PROGRESSIVE ACTION CELEBRATES SUCCESS OF ALL ENDORSEESNovember 10, 2005 The local political group Progressive Action is celebrating the success of all five of its endorsed candidates in Tuesday’s General Election. After a thorough written and verbal screening process back in August, Progressive Action endorsed Roger Reinert and Greg Gilbert for Duluth City Council and Nancy Nilsen, Laura Condon, and Mary Cameron for Duluth School Board. All five were elected. “These five candidates showed great dedication to progressive principles—such as affordable housing and equal educational opportunities—when they screened with Progressive Action last summer,” Progressive Action Steering Committee member Barb Olsen commented. “And they conducted their campaigns in a positive and constructive manner. Progressive Action is proud to have been involved in their campaigns, and we look forward to the contributions these fine individuals will no doubt make to our community.” Progressive Action supported its endorsed candidates with campaign volunteers, financial contributions, and via its new website, Prog-Action.org, which has featured interviews with Progressive Action’s endorsed candidates as well as with all other candidates in these city races. Progressive Action was formed in 2003. It’s a group of volunteers in Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin that was created after the death of Paul Wellstone to help continue his work on issues such as affordable housing, living wages, and electing progressives to local office. Progressive Action is not affiliated with any political party.
