PA TO EXAMINE INTELLIGENT DESIGN
The Galapagos Islands & Evolution
Progressive Action Considers the Evidence for Intelligent
Design
As
schools and school boards across the country confront the issue of teaching "Intelligent
Design" in public schools, Progressive Action considers the evidence in
an upcoming forum.
A federal judge has ruled that teaching Intelligent Design in public schools
is unconstitutional. It's religion, the judge said, not science.
What is Intelligent Design, and how did it originate?
In a presentation on Sunday, February 19th, Charles Gessert will discuss
his recent journey to the Galapagos and share his photographs and observations
of the land that launched this debate.
The forum is titled, "The Galapagos Islands and Evolution...
Progressive Action Considers the Evidence for Intelligent Design."
Discussion follows the presentation.
Charles Darwin journeyed to the Galapagos in the 1830s and came to the
conclusion that unsettled the western world: It is changes in the environment,
not God, that prompt species to transform over time.
The presentation is free and open to the public. It takes place on Sunday
February 19th, at 6:00 p.m., in the large conference room at 211 West
2nd Street. (Enter through alley door between West 2nd and West 3rd streets).
A potluck dinner will also be served-please bring a potluck item if you
can. Beverages, plates, cups, and silverware provided. For more information,
call Tim at 525-7343.
